Crime & Punishment

The IPKat (2012) 

1. Should the death penalty exist as a punishment for murder or terrorism?

I think that a death penalty should exist for a terrorism only that is because a murderer might kill someone by mistake. For example, a murderer might get into a fight and hit someone by mistake and kill him or her.

2. Should the main purpose of prison be punishment or rehabilitation?

In my opinion I think that the main purpose of prison should be punished for some people, for example, people who are not drunk or people who have not got any mental issues or any illness. On the other hand, people who must be rehabilitation are those who have mental issues and drunken people.

3. What is the best way to deal with juvenile crime such as:

·         Joy-riding- the best way to deal with this crime is to punish them and put them in jail. Some of them have license so the police can take their license off for 3 months or so.

·         Vandalism- I think that the best way to deal with this crime is to put them in jail for one month and have some strong punishment so that they don’t ruin some public places.

·         Graffiti- I think that they need to pay money for the police to the drawings that they did and get into jail for one week only.

4. Is it ever right for political activities to break the law?

Yes, but in a peaceful way for example, having a strike or a protest without having some fights or killing each other.

5. How strict should the law be with people who drink and drive?

I think that the law should be very strict to people who drink and drive. For example if someone is drank and he drives a car he might have a car accident and kill himself and he might also kill other people, so the police must be very strict on this issue.

6. Which is the more serious problem in your country – tax evasion or social security fraud?

Back in my country we don’t pay for taxes or the social security fraud like gases, electricity and water. But in the UK the more serious problem I think is the tax evasion because it is very expensive and we need to pay tax for everything that we buy. As O’connell (2013) he reported that the government must to reduce the tax evasion to make life much easier.

7. Should the police have the right to stop and search you in the street without a warrant?

I don’t think that they have the right to stop us and search us without a warrant because we didn’t do anything wrong so why should they stop us?

8. Should the law respect the rights of homeless people to squat in unoccupied property or shop doorways?

The law should not respect the rights of homeless people to stay in an unoccupied property nor shop doorways because they do not own it. So I think that the government must build something to keep all the homeless people in it rather than letting them sleep in public places.

9. Should smoking cannabis be a criminal offence?

According to Ncpic (2008) they stated, “Some jurisdictions have decriminalised minor cannabis offences, such as the possession of a ‘small amount’ of the drug for personal use. This means that the offence can be dealt with by a civil penalty, such as a fine, rather than by receiving a criminal charge. Speeding is a good example of an offence that is commonly dealt with by a civil penalty. If an offence is decriminalised, it does not mean that it is legal. Legalisation of cannabis would mean that cannabis would no longer be an illicit drug, but would be a legal drug like alcohol and tobacco.”

Time management

 

 

Many people these days don’t manage their time well enough. For me I have some difficulties in managing my time. I always get late to do some tasks and sometimes I don’t really have time to do something. There are many different ways for me to improve my time management. Firstly, I need to get enough sleep so that I can work enough hours to do my tasks. Secondly, I need to organise myself, it will be much quicker and easier to finish my tasks. Thirdly, I need to have some breaks between my works so that I don’t get tired. Fourthly, I need to concentrate on one thing and not many things at the same time so that I don’t get confused. Lastly, I need to write a ‘to do’ list so that I don’t forget anything. For example, I need to have two columns of important tasks and the unimportant tasks.

Team Work

            

         A teamwork activity is better than individual activity. Working as a team means that you can have and share different ideas. There are several strengths with the group that I worked with. Firstly, we had lots of different ideas that supports our work, which is very useful. Secondly, we got to know each other more, in other words, it’s a good way to make new friends. Lastly, it’s a good way to communicate with your classmates. There are also some weaknesses that we figured out in the group. Firstly, we had some arguments about who had the right answer. Secondly, lots of different ideas confused us a lot. Lastly, when we did the team work everybody was shouting different answers, so I think next time we should write our answers in a piece of paper rather than shouting it out and disturbing other people from working. The most important thing when working in a team is to be kind and friendly, because if your not, you might end up with a fight with one of your team members. For example, Radi and Will fought because both of them thought that they have the right answer.
